I am writing to communicate the resignation of Geraldine Lawlor, Director of Instruction, Graduation & Innovation effective September 13, 2024.  Geraldine has accepted the position of Associate Superintendent with School District No. 40 (New Westminster Schools) and will commence her new role on September 16, 2024.

Geraldine joined Coast Mountains School District in September 1992 in a teaching position at Mount Elizabeth Secondary School.  She assumed the position of Vice Principal at Mount Elizabeth Middle/Secondary School (MEMSS) in September 2014, then transitioned to the positions of Principal at Kitimat City High School in January 2015 and Principal at MEMSS in January 2016 prior to the appointment to her current position in August 2019.

Coast Mountains School District extends its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Geraldine for her long-term service and for the significant and valuable contributions made over the past 32 years in moving the school district forward with the importance of focusing district decisions on what is best for the success of our learners.

Geraldine’s leadership and expertise will be sadly missed.  With her broad experiences in educational leadership, along with her kindness and approachability, we are sure she will prove to be a great asset to the New Westminster School District.

In the interim, the school district will be actively seeking a new Director of Instruction, Graduation & Innovation and will be conducting a Canada-wide search.

Our very best wishes are extended to Geraldine for every success in her future endeavors.

Interim Superintendent of Schools
